What is X-Guard in BJJ?
Quick Definition
A guard with your legs forming an X under your standing opponent.
Full Explanation
X-guard is an underneath position where your legs form an X around one of your opponent's legs while they're standing. One foot hooks behind their knee, the other on their hip. It's extremely powerful for sweeps - you can technical standup sweep, overhead sweep, or transition to leg locks. Marcelo Garcia revolutionized this guard. It requires getting underneath them, usually from butterfly or single leg X.
