What is Outside Trip in BJJ?
Quick Definition
A takedown reaping the opponent's outside leg while driving them backward.
Full Explanation
The outside trip is a clinch takedown where you place your leg behind the opponent's outside leg and drive them backward over it. Similar to osoto gari in judo, the outside trip is powerful because it attacks the opponent's balance in the direction they are weakest. It is effective from various clinch positions and pairs well with inside trips as a combination. The outside trip can result in landing directly in side control.
Examples in Context
"He hit the outside trip and landed directly in side control"
