What is Lockdown Sweep in BJJ?
Also known as: Whip up, Lockdown whip up
Quick Definition
A sweep from half guard using the lockdown leg configuration to whip up.
Full Explanation
The lockdown sweep (or whip up) is performed from lockdown half guard. After establishing the lockdown figure-four on the opponent's leg, you create an underhook, use a "whip up" motion to elevate them by extending the lockdown, and come up on top. It is the primary sweep from the lockdown position and demonstrates how the lockdown's leg control creates sweeping leverage. The timing of the whip-up motion is critical.
