What is Knee Reap in BJJ?
Quick Definition
A leg entanglement where the leg crosses over the opponent's centerline, often illegal in IBJJF.
Full Explanation
Knee reaping occurs when your leg crosses over the opponent's body centerline while entangled with their leg, putting lateral pressure on their knee. In IBJJF rules, knee reaping is illegal at most belt levels because of the knee injury risk. However, in ADCC and many no-gi rulesets, it is perfectly legal and is actually a fundamental part of the leg lock game. Understanding what constitutes a reap is important to avoid disqualification.
