What is Escape in BJJ?
Quick Definition
A technique to get out of a bad position.
Full Explanation
Escapes are techniques to get out of inferior positions - mount escapes, side control escapes, back escapes, submission escapes. Learning escapes is crucial for survival, especially as a beginner when you'll spend lots of time on bottom. Good escapes create a safety net that allows you to take risks. The most fundamental escapes (upa, elbow-knee) should be automatic reactions.
