What is DQ in BJJ?

DQ is the common abbreviation for disqualification in BJJ competition. A competitor can be DQ'd for illegal techniques (heel hooks at lower belts, slams, neck cranks), excessive stalling, unsportsmanlike conduct, or accumulating too many penalties. Some DQs are automatic (like slamming an opponent) while others result from accumulated infractions. Being DQ'd results in a loss and potentially removal from the tournament.
