What is D'Arce Choke in BJJ?

Also known as: Brabo choke, No-gi Brabo

Quick Definition

An arm-in head-and-arm choke threaded from the side, named after Joe D'Arce.

Full Explanation

The D'Arce choke (also called the Brabo choke) is a head-and-arm choke where your choking arm goes under the opponent's armpit and around their neck, connecting with a figure-four or gable grip. It is typically set up from half guard top, front headlock, or when the opponent turtles. Named after Joe D'Arce who popularized it in the US, it is actually an inverted version of the anaconda choke. The D'Arce is a high-percentage choke at all levels.
