What is Calf Slicer in BJJ?
Also known as: Calf crush, Calf lock
Quick Definition
A compression lock attacking the calf muscle by folding the leg over a fulcrum.
Full Explanation
The calf slicer (also called calf crush or calf lock) is a compression lock where you fold the opponent's leg over your shin or forearm, crushing the calf muscle between the tibia and your fulcrum point. It is commonly set up from truck position, back control, or when opponents triangle their legs to defend. In IBJJF rules, calf slicers are legal only at brown and black belt. The pain is immediate and sharp.
