What is Bridge in BJJ?

Quick Definition

An explosive hip thrust movement used to off-balance opponents and create escape opportunities.

Full Explanation

The bridge is performed by driving your hips toward the ceiling while keeping your feet and shoulders on the ground. In BJJ, it's primarily used to escape mount (the trap and roll/upa escape) and to create space in other bad positions. A strong bridge can lift even a much heavier opponent. The key is explosiveness - a slow bridge is easily countered, while a fast, committed bridge can reverse the position entirely.
