What is Advantages in BJJ?
Quick Definition
Secondary scoring in BJJ competition, awarded for near-submissions or near-point situations.
Full Explanation
Advantages are a secondary scoring metric in IBJJF competition. They're awarded when you almost score points (like nearly completing a sweep) or almost finish a submission (opponent defends but is in danger). If the match is tied on points, advantages determine the winner. They're meant to reward the more aggressive or offensive competitor. Other rulesets like ADCC don't use advantages.
